The City of Ottawa has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of primary care paramedic. Candidates will have to appropriately interact with medical facility staff, and other agencies in both routine and emergencies. Candidates are also appointed to treat patients, co-workers and other Paramedic Service, medical and co-response staff and the public with respect and integrity. Job Description
- Candidates will have to meet requirements as outlined in the Ambulance Act and associated regulations.
- They’re inviting candidates to integrate the use of all primary and some advanced medical knowledge, techniques and skills.
- Candidates are appointed to determine treatment and care priorities and provide immediate and sustained patient care at the scene, en route to and on arrival at the medical facility.
- Candidates will have to exercise sound judgment in emergencies and concerning public relations, and patient and family interaction where empathy and support must be displayed.
- The candidate will have to safely operate Paramedic Service vehicles.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have completed a 2-year Primary Care Paramedic Diploma.
- Candidates must attain a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- They must attain primary care paramedic certification in the Province of Ontario AEMCA is required to be achieved within six months of hire by the City of Ottawa.
Work setting
- Candidates must have passed the Ottawa paramedic physical ability test to be eligible for this post.
