Pork Production Technician

Olypork LP based in Strathmore, AB, is looking for candidates for the position of Pork Production Technician with 4 vacancies. The ones chosen to be employed will be required to start work as soon as possible. The job is LMIA approved. The vacancies refer to that of permanent employment and a full time job. The shift extends from day to weekend to early morning and morning and is usually from 07:00 to 15:30 hours.

Job description

  • The candidate will be required to perform general farm duties.
  • The candidate will be required to operate machinery.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain farm machinery.
  • The candidate will be required to operate and maintain equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain work records and logs
  • The candidate will be required to monitor animal health
  • The candidate will be required to engage in type of farm operations like hog and pig farming
  • The work site environment is very noisy with a lot of odors and is very dusty.
  • The work location is a rural area.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain quality control.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain production records.
  • The candidate will be required to ensure farm safety.
  • The candidate will be required to make sure that bio-security procedures are followed.
  • The candidate will be required to recognize and treat certain livestock health problems.
  • The candidate will be required to carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain livestock performance records.
  • The candidate will be required to select livestock for sale.
  • The candidate will be required to handle animals.
  • The candidate will be required to process pig litters.
  • The candidate will be required to engage in weaning.

Requirements

  • The candidate should have a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • The candidate should have an experience of at least 1 year to less than 2 years.
  • The candidate should have a specialization in Swine.
  • The candidate should have a specialization in Pork.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The work will involve a combination of sitting, standing and walking which the candidate should be comfortable with.
  • The work will be physically demanding and hence the candidate should be comfortable with it.
  • The work will involve a combination of bending, crouching and kneeling which the candidate should be comfortable with.
  • The candidate should pay attention to detail.
  • The candidate will be required to stand for extended periods and hence should be comfortable with it.
  • The candidate should be organized.
  • The candidate should be a team player.
