Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to dispense prescription medications and apply appropriate auxiliary labels.
- They’re also appointed to check prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for therapeutic appropriateness including but not limited to drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, dose, frequency, and dosage form.
- Candidates are appointed to verify prescriptions and refill with physicians by phone as needed and take verbal prescriptions.
- They’re also appointed to oversee the collection of patient medical history and maintenance of confidential computer records.
- Candidates are also appointed to collaborate with other healthcare professionals as necessary to identify and resolve drug therapy problems. Educates patients on proper medication usage.
- They’re also appointed to provide prompt and courteous patient care.
- Candidates are appointed to answer patient questions about over-the-counter medication and product location.
- They’re required to work collaboratively with Registered Technicians to ensure appropriate allocation of work tasks.
- Candidates working in this post will recruit patients for and conduct health and wellness clinics and document interventions where permitted by provincial regulations.
- They’re also appointed to adapt, extend, and modify prescriptions as well as perform specific acts under the delegation or collaboration of a prescriber to the extent permitted by provincial regulations.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have a bachelor of Science or Doctorate of Pharmacy to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must be licensed pharmacists to be eligible for this post.
- They must have dedicated computer, math, patient care and member service skills to be eligible for this post.
Work setting
- They must assist with other assigned duties when required to be eligible for this post.
