Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to prepare and wash surfaces with soap and water, T. S. P., steam or solvents to remove grease, rust, scale or dirt working at this post.
- They also appointed at this post to remove old finish by using paint remover, blowtorch, sandblaster, wire brush or scraper and smooth surfaces with sandpaper, sanding machine or steel wool.
- Candidates at this post are required to apply fillers, sealers, stain and protective coatings to millwork, etc.
- They’re also appointed at this post to clean brushes, rollers, spray equipment in Varsol, soap and water or other solvents.
- They’re appointed at this post to read drawings and specifications to determine material and installation requirements.
- Candidates for this post are required to prepare or participate in the preparation of project cost estimates.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have dedicated knowledge of standard methods, materials and equipment used in the painting and decorating trade to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must have dedicated knowledge of the properties of paint, lacquer and other protective and decorative finishes.
- They must have Grade 10 and Journeyperson Certification in the Painting and Decorating trade to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must have 2 years of current Journeyperson experience in the painting and decorating trade in the building construction and maintenance area.
- They must attain the ability to plan and prepare painting cost estimates for construction, renovation and maintenance projects.
- Candidates must attain the ability to read and interpret drawings, work formulas and specifications to be eligible for this post.
