Job Description
- Candidates are appointed to assist members in choosing eyeglass frames, sunglasses, contact lenses and ophthalmic lens options appropriate to the lens prescription.
- They’re also appointed to provide and ensure prompt, accurate and courteous member service.
- Candidates are appointed to assist in providing members with support in booking doctor appointments.
- Candidates will have to accurately measure members for pupillary distance (PD) using a pupillometer or ruler.
- They’re appointed to examine a member’s eye using a slit lamp to assess the general ocular health and assist in the fitting of contact lenses.
- They’ll act as key members order into the computer. Places special orders to outside vendors by telephone.
- Candidates are appointed to ring up orders and over-the-counter optical merchandise.
- They’re also appointed to receive accurate payment, make changes, and process cheques, credit and debit charges according to proper procedures for paperwork, cash handling and performance of duties.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have Relevant Provincial Ophthalmic Dispenser accreditation to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must have a provincial License as a Dispensing Optician and Certified Contact lens Fitter to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must have licensed optician/contact lens Fitter experience to be eligible for this post.
- They must be able to communicate in French to be eligible for this post.
Work setting
- Candidates must have computer, math and member service skills to be eligible for this post.
