- Candidates at this post are appointed to assist members in choosing eyeglass frames, sunglasses, contact lenses and ophthalmic lens options appropriate to the lens prescription.
- Candidates are also appointed to provide and ensure prompt, accurate and courteous member service.
- Candidates for this post are appointed to assist in providing members with support in booking Dr appointments.
- They’re appointed to accurately measure members for pupillary distance (PD) using a pupillometer or ruler.
- They’re appointed at this post to examine a member’s eye using a slit lamp to assess the general ocular health and assist in the fitting of contact lenses.
- Candidates for this post will be one of the key members ordered into the computer. Places special orders to outside vendors by telephone.
- Candidates are appointed to receive accurate payment, make changes, and process cheques, and credit and debit charges according to proper procedures for paperwork, cash handling and performance of duties.
- They’re also appointed to check contact lenses and complete eyeglasses against prescription before dispensing to members.Â

Job requirementÂ
- Candidates must have relevant provincial ophthalmic dispenser accreditation.Â
- They must have a provincial license as a dispensing optician and certified contact lens fitter to be eligible for this post.Â
- Candidates must be proficient in determining the placement of multi-focal heights and bifocal heights.
- Candidates must have licensed contact lens fitter experience to be eligible for this post.Â
- They must be able to communicate in French and attain dedicated computer, math and member service skills at this post.
