Job Description
- Candidates working at this post are required to confer with interdisciplinary staff regarding an overall treatment plan for residents working at this post.
- They’re also required to mileage coverage between sites and evaluate the progress of residents regarding occupational therapy treatment provided through the use of tests and observation working at this post.
- Candidates are also appointed to this post to participate as members of the interdisciplinary team working at this post.
- They’re also appointed at this post to give evaluation and progress reports on residents.
- Candidates for this post are required to design and produce adaptive equipment, utensils, splints or other orthotic devices working at this post.
- They’re appointed at this post to instruct residents and staff in the use of the equipment.
- They’re appointed at this post to coordinate the management of facility equipment when required.
- They’re also appointed at this post to contact suppliers for service and maintenance of wheelchairs, Geri chairs and power wheelchairs working at this post.
- Candidates working at this post are required to provide staff training on ergonomics, seating assessment, skin integrity, equipment and other related topics to be eligible for this post.
Job requirement
- They must have a bachelor’s or master of science in Occupational Therapy to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must have current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists to be preferred for this post.
- Candidates must know the principles and practices of occupational therapy, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology as related to the practice of occupational therapy to be preferred for this post.
- They must have previous experience working in nursing homes or healthcare environments to be eligible for this post.
