Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of Global Merchants reporting to the Manager, while inspiring, coaching, and guiding team members to develop their skills and deliver business priorities.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting employee development plans and managing performance outcomes.
- The candidate must define class strategies based on a 2–3 year short-range strategy and sales plan targets.
- The candidate will be responsible for creating global seasonal merchandise strategies and roadmaps in partnership with Merchandise Directors, cross-functional product partners, and brand creative teams.
- The candidate will be responsible for briefing raw materials in partnership with the Merchandise Director.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading the team in building the architecture of the assortment in collaboration with Design and Product Development teams, delivering against seasonal KPIs.
- The candidate will be responsible for creating content for showbacks to the Chief Product Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and Creative Director, including strategy, innovation, and investment direction.
- The candidate will be responsible for presenting seasonal merchandise direction, including roadmap, storytelling, campaign direction, product flow, and colour strategy to regional buyers and cross-functional partners.
- The candidate will be responsible for enrolling and aligning on class strategies with Design, Product Development, and Sourcing, including carryover, seasonal newness, franchise management, and slot investments.
- The candidate will be responsible for building strategic vision for franchises and managing product lifecycle planning.
- The candidate will be responsible for signing off on sketches, colour, and prototypes against product briefs and long-term category strategy.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading the team to gain in-depth consumer, competitive, and market insights.
- The candidate will be responsible for overseeing colour flow for global assortment to ensure clear, consistent, and profitable storytelling.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring seasonal KPIs and targets are met in partnership with Global Merchandise Planning.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold a BA, BSc, BBA, BComm, or equivalent degree.
- The candidate with a specialization in Retail Management will be considered an asset.
- The candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of experience, combining people management and merchandising responsibilities.
- The candidate must demonstrate proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead a team.
- The candidate must have understanding and experience working for a global brand.
- The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, with advanced proficiency in Excel, and have experience with merchandising software; experience with Adobe Illustrator is preferred.
- The candidate must have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret multiple data points across channels and market segments.
- The candidate must have financial acumen and understanding of retail math.
- The candidate must have the ability to balance analytical and creative tasks.
- The candidate must be able to interpret and apply financial insights on current business performance and leverage insights to guide future range plans.
- The candidate must have an acute eye for product and colour trends.
- The candidate must be aware of macro lifestyle and fashion trends and how they relate to the active and wellness industry.
- The candidate must have a strong understanding of the global marketplace, including major shifts in trend and activity.
- The candidate must be able to apply, interpret, and synthesize marketplace data to create global assortment strategies.
- The candidate must be able to enroll and clearly communicate vision, class strategy, and feedback to key partners.
- The candidate must have the ability to lead and influence creative partners.
