This position also helps investigators when they are sifting through images, putting together photo lineups and generally backing up investigative work, so that things move along more cleanly.
In this position, you will manage facial recognition records, compare images, prepare court ready materials and provide guidance on identification services. The role also includes administrative duties and occasional after hours support based on operational needs.

Job Description
- Facial Identification Technician supports law enforcement investigations using facial recognition and photographic identification tools.
- This is a temporary on call position based in Calgary, Alberta.
- On-call hours vary based on operational needs and no minimum hours are guaranteed.
- The role includes office based work, occasional after hours support and court attendance when required.
- The position combines investigative support with administrative duties in a professional public service environment.
Responsibilities
- Create and deliver photographic lineups for active investigations.
- Use Adobe Photoshop to improve image quality for photo lineups.
- Manage the facial recognition image database.
- Review and compare investigative images to help identify unknown suspects.
- Respond to urgent after hours requests when needed.
- Attend court and provide testimony about photographic lineups.
- Provide advice and guidance to investigators on identification services.
- Prepare and present case study materials.
- Complete routine correspondence, record keeping, mail handling, shredding and statistical reporting.
Requirements
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent GED with job related coursework.
- Have at least 1 year of related work background. Work background in law enforcement and use of Niche, Sentry or similar programs is preferred.
- Successfully complete the FBI Face Comparison and Identification course within 6 months of selection if not already completed.
- Have intermediate level skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Work background with image or face comparison and Adobe Photoshop is considered an asset.
- Show emotional intelligence and can build respectful working relationships.

- Pass an enhanced security clearance.
- Successfully complete required skills testing.
- Provide proof of qualifications. Applicants with education completed outside Canada must have or obtain an Education Credential Assessment.
