Job Description
- The candidate will provide energy and peak forecasting analysis to support residential, commercial, and industrial customer sectors.
- The candidate will develop load forecasts through research, analysis of historic data, review of economic modelling assumptions, and evaluation of data applicability to future trend projections using linear multivariate regression modelling.
- The candidate will maintain a variance model to compare monthly actual electricity sales with forecasted sales and present results to the team and other business groups as required.
- The candidate will write, review, edit, and format technical reports and documents.
- The candidate will initiate changes to planning methodologies in response to technological and software developments.
- The candidate will monitor industry developments related to forecasting models and methodologies and recommend incremental model and process improvements.
- The candidate will maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must possess a post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline such as economics, statistics, engineering, business, or mathematics.
- The candidate must have a minimum of 2–5 years of relevant work experience involving quantitative analysis in areas such as data and statistical analysis, load research and modelling, and electricity load and energy analysis.
- The candidate is required to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Competency in analytical and programming software such as SAS, Statistically Adjusted End-Use (SAE) models, PowerBI, Python, R, MATLAB, Metrix ND, Metrix LT, Tableau, or Microsoft Fabric is considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates with existing knowledge of BC Hydro data sets, including familiarity with customer rate classifications, billing data, and hourly load data extraction.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong business writing and report preparation skills.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong oral communication skills, including the ability to make presentations to cross-functional teams.

Work conditions
- The candidate will be required to work in a hybrid role headquartered at BC Hydro’s downtown Vancouver office, with in-office attendance required a minimum of two days per week and up to five days per week as needed.
