We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The chosen applicant will be required to join and begin their duties as soon as possible. This role is offered on a regular full-time basis.

Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting in planning and assigning janitorial, custodial, and security tasks for a small team.
  • The candidate will be responsible for actively participating in task execution while demonstrating hands-on leadership.
  • The candidate will be responsible for exercising independent judgment in recommending schedules and assigning non-routine work.
  • The candidate will be responsible for resolving issues using established standards and procedures and escalating matters when required.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must possess sound knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in janitorial and routine building maintenance.
  • The candidate must be familiar with occupational hazards and safety precautions relevant to the work.
  • The candidate must have some knowledge of routine building maintenance and minor repair tasks.
  • The candidate must be able to plan, assign, and coordinate the work of staff, develop work plans, and provide instruction to new employees.
  • The candidate must be capable of maintaining simple work-related records.
  • The candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously and effectively with the public.
  • The candidate must be able to work with limited direct supervision.
  • The candidate must possess skill in the use of cleaning and maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • The candidate must be available to work afternoon, evening, and/or weekend shifts.
  • The candidate will be required to hold a valid BC Driver’s Licence.
  • The candidate must have completed Grade 8, preferably supplemented by janitorial courses and related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience supervising staff.
  • Possession of a Building Service Worker certificate is considered an asset.
