Job Description

  • The candidate must be able to handle animals.
  • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring the calving process.
  • The candidate must monitor animal health.
  • The candidate must plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
  • The candidate must prepare a clean, dry area for cows that are calving.
  • The candidate will be responsible for treating livestock health issues.
  • The candidate must perform weaning tasks.
  • The candidate must perform weeding.
  • The candidate will be responsible for fertilizing and spraying crops.
  • The candidate must harvest crops.
  • The candidate will be responsible for feeding and tending animals.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting.
  • The candidate must ensure compliance with farm safety and biosecurity procedures.
  • The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related industry.

  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must work in all weather conditions.
  • The candidate must work in a dirty environment.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
  • The candidate must work in various locations to support employees stationed at different worksites.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience in operating harvesters, seed drills, sprayers or dusters, storage and silage systems, tractors, combine harvesters, farm trucks, haying equipment, loaders, manure spreaders, swathers, skidsteers, forklifts, and hand tools.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must specialize in the area of agricultural livestock services, cattle breeding, agricultural crop services, and beef cattle.

  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • The candidate must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
