Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for performing and overseeing the testing and examination of items within mechanical, civil, electrical, or chemical disciplines by recording measurements, operating specialized instruments, determining parameters, identifying failure points, and preparing reports.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing project test protocols, inspecting products, and advising technologists on conformity to established standards, specifications, and procedures, while recommending corrective measures or escalating unusual problems to the project or laboratory leader.
- The candidate will be responsible for discussing and providing cost and time estimates for testing to project leaders.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing routine technical assistance in the field related to testing and requirements.
- The candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of equipment used in the testing setup.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing janitorial and cleanup services for the lab.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing duties of a minor nature related to the above tasks, including duties across disciplines within the same or lower job group.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have completed a Certificate of Technology in Civil, Mechanical, Materials, Electronics, Electrical, Power, or Chemistry disciplines.
- The candidate with up to two (2) years of relevant laboratory experience in testing equipment, materials, and components will be considered an asset.
- The candidate should have knowledge of soil and materials testing, including sample preparation processes such as washing, drying, sieving, and moisture conditioning.
- The candidate should possess strong laboratory support skills, including equipment maintenance, specimen handling, and proper storage practices.
- The candidate with hands-on mechanical experience will be preferred.
- The candidate must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
