Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for developing basic web-based, in-person instructor-led, and virtual training content, as well as producing instructional videos and digital assets under the guidance of the Instructional Designer 2 and Work Leader. The candidate will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), instructors, and Training Leads to prepare training materials, technical documentation, procedure documents, and manuals using standard templates.
  • The candidate will be required to develop and maintain basic learning assessment tools using established assessment matrices while applying adult learning concepts under the direction of the Instructional Designer 2 and Work Leader.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining training materials by working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to update existing training content, ensuring materials are current, and reviewing, filing, and uploading internal and vendor-developed content while following established instructional design processes, standards, file naming protocols, and storage conventions.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and tracking the progress of course development and maintenance project plans under the direction of the Instructional Designer 2 and Work Leader and collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure content remains accurate and relevant.
  • The candidate will be responsible for serving as a virtual training course producer by coordinating platform setup, preparing training materials, providing basic technical support to participants and instructors, assisting with session facilitation, monitoring participant engagement and delivery pace, and distributing session recordings and materials after each session.
  • The candidate will be responsible for participating in workshops and webinars and conducting research to stay current with emerging trends in instructional design.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing technical guidance to SMEs, Training Leads, and other stakeholders on applying adult learning principles to improve course design and instructional materials.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing other related duties of a minor nature as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Science, or a related field and have at least three (3) years of experience in an adult training and education role, including experience in designing and developing formal or informal training materials, evaluation tools, or virtual training course production.
  • The candidate must hold a Certificate or Diploma in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, such as the Certificate in Adult & Continuing Education (CACE), the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP), or a related program, and have at least four (4) years of work experience in an adult training and education role involving the design and development of formal or informal training materials, evaluation tools, or virtual training course production.
  • The candidate is preferred to hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license in good standing.

Work conditions

  • The work locations are accessible by public transit. The successful candidate must provide their own transportation to and from work.
  • The candidate will be required to work in a normal office environment.
  • The candidate may be required to travel overnight occasionally to various offices throughout the province.
  • The candidate may occasionally be required to climb ladders or scaffolds, walk over rough terrain, and lift light-weight equipment while filming or taking photographs at other office locations or in the field.
