Job Description

  • The candidate will be in charge of budding trees.
  • The candidate will be in charge of Christmas tree shearing.
  • The candidate will be in charge of cleaning the crop.
  • The candidate will be in charge of clipping.
  • The candidate will be in charge of deleafing.
  • The candidate will be in charge of fruit tree training.
  • The candidate will be in charge of cleaning the greenhouse.
  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting vegetables by hand.
  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting seedlings.
  • The candidate will be in charge of mixing fertiliser.
  • The candidate will be in charge of Permaculture.
  • The candidate will be in charge of seed cutting.
  • The candidate will be in charge of shoot positioning.
  • The candidate will be in charge of suckering.
  • The candidate will be in charge of tying.
  • The candidate will be in charge of vegetable culling.
  • The candidate will be in charge of weeding.
  • The candidate will be required to write basic progress reports on a daily basis.

  • The candidate will be expected to assist in grafting activities.
  • The candidate will be required to dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs.
  • The candidate will be expected to water and care for plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
  • The candidate will be expected to clean the work area.
  • The candidate will be expected to plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to fertilise and spray crops.
  • The candidate must detect disease and health issues in crops, livestock, and poultry.
  • The candidate will be in charge of hoeing crops.
  • The candidate will be in charge of stone and/or wood picking.
  • The candidate will be in charge of grading.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent experience.
  • Training will be provided to the selected candidate.
  • The candidate must be able to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs) and more than 45 kg (100 lbs)
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.

Work Site Environment

  • Farm operations include floriculture production and other miscellaneous crop farming.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp, dusty, hot, and cold/refrigerated conditions.
  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting crops.
  • The candidate must be willing to work in hazardous conditions.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.

Work Setting

  • The candidate must be willing to work in rural and remote areas.
  • The candidate’s relocation expenses will not be covered by the employer.
  • Accommodation will be provided for the candidate.

Experience and Specialization

Type of product

  • Products include Coniferous trees, Deciduous trees, Native plants, Perennials, Bedding plants, Berry bushes, Fruit trees, Ornamental trees, shrubs and hedges, Seasonal plants, and Vegetables.

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience with chain saws, garden tractors, irrigation pumps and equipment, mechanical cultivators, mechanical seeders, mechanical sprayers, light trucks, tractors, tillage equipment, sprayers or dusters, seed drills, planting equipment, farm trucks, fertiliser applicators, and feeding and watering systems.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about soil fertility programmes.
