Job Description

• The candidate will be required to remove existing floor coverings and contaminants.
• The candidate will be required to prepare floors for installation.
• The candidate will be expected to prepare and install hardwood floors.
• The candidate will be required to perform direct glue-down carpet installations.
• The candidate will be expected to install double-bond carpet.
• The candidate will be required to measure, cut, and fasten underlay and underpadding.
• The candidate will be required to measure, cut, and install carpeting on floors.
• The candidate will be required to measure, cut, and install resilient floor coverings.
• The candidate will be required to install materials on counter tops and raised platforms.
• The candidate will be required to install outdoor carpets.
• The candidate will be required to install resilient stair components (special effects for the visually impaired).
• The candidate will be required to install vinyl decking materials.
• The candidate will be required to install carpeting on walls or other surfaces.
• The candidate will be required to stretch carpeting using knee kickers and other equipment.
• Prior to flooring installation, the candidate will be required to conduct moisture, ph, temperature, and other tests.
• The candidate will be expected to inspect and repair damaged floor coverings.
• The candidate will be expected to inspect, measure, and mark the surfaces to be covered.
• The candidate must be able to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.
• The candidate will be required to prepare tenders and quotations.
• The candidate will be expected to prepare flooring plans and schedules.
• The candidate will be required to estimate costs and materials.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• The candidate should have minimum qualification of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate should be a good team player with enough interpersonal and judge-mental skills.
• The candidate should be client focused.
• The candidate must be well-organized.

Work Setting

• The candidate will be required to work in a residential setting.

Own Tools/Equipment

• The candidate must have their own steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, gloves, and mask.

Work Site Environment

• The candidate will be required to work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
• The candidate will be required to work in a dusty environment.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate should be prepared for doing physically challenging tasks as part of daily work.
• The candidate must have excellent hand eye coordination.
• The candidate should be willing to work for long hours in bending, crouching and kneeling positions.
