Job Description

  • The candidate must diagnose livestock health issues.
  • The candidate must direct farm feed inventory activities.
  • The candidate must handle animals.
  • The candidate must maintain work records and logs.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must perform general farm duties.
  • The candidate must track and report on the current feed inventory.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.

Work site environment

  • The type of farm operations includes hog and pig farming, as well as hog management.
  • The candidate must work in a dusty environment.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
  • The candidate should work in staff accommodation that offers live-in accommodation when an employer provides a housing offer to its employees.
  • The candidate must work in cattle feed lots and pig barns.

Level of expertise

  • The candidate must be skilled in maintenance and repair work.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience operating equipment and machinery such as a sprayer or duster and a forklift.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about swine.
