Job Description

  • The candidate must mix fertilizer.
  • The candidate will be expected to plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
  • The candidate will be in charge of stone and/or wood picking.
  • The candidate will be responsible for fertilising and spraying crops.
  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting crops.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must repair minor defects.
  • The candidate must work with little supervision.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent experience.
  • Candidate having experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must be flexible.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work Site Environment

  • Farm operations include beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots, dry pea and bean farming, hay farming, oilseed (except soybean) farming, other grain farming, other miscellaneous crop farming, and wheat farming.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.

Work Setting

Experience and Specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience with a combine harvester, a farm truck, a fertilizer applicator, forage equipment, haying equipment, a loader, a manure spreader, planting equipment, a seed drill, a sprayer or duster, a swather, tillage equipment, and a tractor.

  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • The candidate must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
