Job Description
- The candidate will be in charge of calving.
- The candidate will be in charge of cattle training.
- The candidate will be in charge of clipping.
- The candidate will be in charge of farm animal grooming.
- The candidate will have to feed inventory.
- The candidate will be in charge of handling animals.
- The candidate will be in charge of hoeing crops.
- The candidate will be in charge of monitoring animal health.
- The candidate will be in charge of weaning.
- The candidate will be in charge of weeding.
- The candidate will be expected to help develop and implement farm safety and bio-security procedures.
- The candidate will be required to provide agricultural crop services such as ploughing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, or harvesting.
- The candidate will be expected to provide agricultural livestock services such as artificial insemination, livestock spraying or shearing, and disinfecting pens, barns, or poultry houses.
- The candidate will be expected to co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
- The candidate will be expected to create work schedules and procedures.
- The candidate must ensure that farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
- The candidate must create a feeding programme.
- The candidate will be expected to keep livestock performance records.
- The candidate will be expected to keep track of quality control and production records.
- The candidate must be able to recognise and treat certain livestock health issues.
- The candidate must supervise and manage breeding and other livestock-related programmes.
- The candidate will be expected to supervise and oversee crop-related operations.
- The candidate will be expected to keep work records and logs.
- The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- The candidate will be expected to carry out general farm duties.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in English language.
- The candidate must have a secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent experience.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related industry.
- The candidate must have a First Aid Certificate.
- The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication.
- The candidate must be well-organized.
- The candidate should be a good team player.
Work Site Environment
- Farm operations include hay farming, livestock combination farming, dairy farming, and livestock farming.
- The candidate must be able to work in dusty and hot conditions.
- The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
- The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
- The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
Work Setting
- The candidate must be willing to work in a rural area.
Experience and Specialization
Equipment and Machinery Experience
- The candidate must have prior experience with an automated manure handling or storage system, an automated milking system, and a tractor.
Area of Specialization
- The candidate must be knowledgeable about agricultural livestock service, cattle genomics, and dairy cattle.
