Job Description
- The candidate must assess children’s development to prepare learning plans tailored to their needs.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
- The candidate must encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
- The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
- The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
- The candidate must discuss children’s progress and any problems at staff meetings.
- The candidate must develop and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers who work with children.

Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
- The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
- A candidate with experience is an asset.
- The candidate must hold a Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1) Certificate, Child Development Worker (ECE Level 2) Certificate, Child Development Supervisor (ECE Level 3) Certificate, an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, as well as First Aid and CPR Certificates.
- The candidate must be punctual.
- The candidate should be dependable.
- The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
- The candidate should be reliable.
- The candidate should be a good team player.
Work setting
- The candidate should work in a child care center, day nursery, or crèches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
