The Bilingual Disability Case Manager post helps the clients by guiding them through the special process. Bilingual Disability Case Managers also review the job duties and employability skills of the claimant to determine the best options for hospitalisation (return to work plans) and to ensure the best possible outcome for the claimant.

Responsibilities

  • To evaluate and process both short-term and long-term disability claims, as well as claims submitted for the life waiver of a disability by the claimant, the claimant’s physicians and/or health-care provider(s) will need to provide the medical information and confirm that the claimant has the appropriate type of employment and/or occupation.
  • As part of an investigation into a disability claim, communication must occur between the claimant and the employer(s), health care practitioner(s) and/or physician(s) involved in the claimant’s case, and attorneys representing all parties involved to gather relevant information necessary to support the disability claimant’s claim.
  • The proper use of analytical reasoning and logic will determine which of the claimants meets the requirements for approval based on the extensive review of all evidence submitted.
  • Health services and rehabilitation programs are supervised and coordinated by the employer(s) to aid in the employability of the claimant(s).

Requirements

  • Must be bilingual in English and French.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills where listening and communication skills are included.
  • Able to work with clients on a one-on-one basis.
  • It is important to have developed planning, and organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to solve problems.
  • Always ready and able to work alone and in a team.
