Job Description

  • The candidate will be in charge of grooming farm animals.
  • The candidate will be required to feed inventory.
  • The candidate will be in charge of handling animals.
  • The candidate will be in charge of monitoring animal health.
  • The candidate will be in charge of soil fertility programmes.
  • The candidate will be expected to assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures.
  • The candidate will be expected to provide agricultural livestock services such as artificial insemination, livestock spraying or shearing, or disinfecting pens, barns, or poultry houses.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers.
  • The candidate must ensure that farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
  • The candidate must create a feeding programme.
  • The candidate must keep livestock performance records.
  • The candidate must keep track of quality control and production records.
  • The candidate must be able to recognise and treat certain livestock health issues.
  • The candidate will be expected to keep work records and logs.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate must perform general farm duties.
  • The candidate will be expected to feed and care for animals.
  • The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
  • The candidate will have to milk cows.
  • The candidate must detect disease and health issues in crops, livestock, and poultry.
  • The candidate will be expected to inspect the product for quality and prepare it for market.
  • The candidate will be responsible for installing and monitoring water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate should have minimum qualification of Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people.
  • The candidate should have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate should have good judgemental skills.

Work site environment

  • The candidate must be willing to work in hazardous conditions.
  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty and wet/damp conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have experience with an automated manure handling or storage system, a bulk handling system, a feeding and watering system, a fertiliser applicator, an automated milking system, a storage and silage system, a tractor, a swather, a manure spreader, a loader, forage equipment, a farm truck, and a combine harvester.

Automated systems experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with manure handling and storage.
