Job Description
- The candidate will receive inbound contacts from the public, clients, and partners regarding wildlife conflicts that threaten public safety, environmental violations, poaching, and other all hazard incidents, and will document and action reports in accordance with EMCR/COS policies and procedures.
- The candidate will be responsible for prioritizing and managing communications received through email, multiline telephone systems, and the EMCR Incident Information Management System following established protocols and procedures.
- The candidate will provide intake and administrative support during peak workload periods and emergent operational events while adjusting priorities to meet service level expectations.
- The candidate will use a geographical database, maps, and other resources to review incident reports, accurately identify locations for COS reports and other all-hazard incidents, and record and relay information to designated COS contacts and/or emergency management agencies.
- The candidate will apply established protocols and call scripts/guidelines to respond to and de-escalate calls from individuals experiencing distress due to emergency events.
- The candidate will perform duties in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, ensuring information and communications are processed accurately and promptly, and escalating matters to senior staff or management in accordance with established protocols to support timely operational responses and deployment of emergency or other appropriate resources.
- The candidate will receive reports of environmental legislation violations by email and telephone and coordinate those reports with the COS.
- The candidate will provide the public, clients, and partners with preapproved/scripted information regarding human-wildlife conflicts, environmental legislation violations, and poaching.
- The candidate will monitor wildlife-human conflicts and other emergency reports, track their status, and ensure they are acknowledged and actioned by the COS or other lead organization.
- The candidate will participate in daily meetings to review conditions and support decisions regarding alerts and response level requirements.
- The candidate will provide input into the development of policies and procedures intended to enhance business operations and client services.
- The candidate will be responsible for coordinating orders, deliveries, and invoicing activities related to training materials for clients and partners.
- The candidate will assist the EMCR Provincial Response Operations work unit with a variety of administrative tasks and projects.
- The candidate will function in EMCR Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre Incident Command System positions as assigned.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have completed Grade 12 education or possess an equivalent qualification.
- Preference may be given to applicants with experience working in a contact centre, call centre, or similar fast-paced environment.
- Preference may be given to applicants with a minimum of one (1) year of administrative experience.
- Preference may be given to applicants with experience and/or training in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel applications.
- The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.

Work conditions
- The candidate must be willing and able to work 10-hour shifts on a 4-days-on / 4-days-off schedule, including holidays, weekends, early mornings, and evenings to support EMCR operational requirements.
- The candidate must be willing and able to work overtime and/or be placed on standby with limited notice.
- The candidate must be willing and able to work at alternate locations during emergencies and business disruptions to maintain EMCR operational requirements.
