Customer Service Specialist (12 month contract)

This position, Customer Service Specialist, is a 12 month contract with Canada Life. This position will serve as the Administrator for Group Retirement Plans such as RRSP, RPP, DPSP, TFSA, Investment-Only and Non-Registered Products. You will utilize the Group Pension Administration System (GPAS) to maintain records, process deposits, transfers, withdrawals, and generate reports regarding plans.

Job Description

  • Customer Service Specialists assist the Administration of Group Retirement Plans.
  • The Customer Service Specialist will report to the Associate Manager of Administration.
  • The responsibilities include: RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan), RPP (Registered Pension Plan), DPSP (Deferred Profit Sharing Plan), TFSA (Tax-Free Savings Account), Investment-Only plans, and other non-registered plan activities.
  • Perform accurate recordkeeping and provide client reporting for all plans.
  • Utilize the Group Pension Administration System (GPAS) effectively.
  • Follow all Group Retirement Services (GRS) processes and standards.
  • Assist with day-to-day investment and plan management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Both bulk and individual deposits for client accounts are processed.
  • Managing all fund transfers between investment options for members.
  • Cash withdrawals with us and registered Plan Transfers with others.
  • Maintaining all members and plan information in GPAS.
  • Responding to inquiries and telephone calls from our various stakeholders.
  • Overseeing and managing your assigned block of business every day.
  • Building solid relationships and resolving sensitive or complex issues accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • A customer-centered perspective was an essential trait of the individual, along with a great attitude and a proactive approach towards work.
  • Very effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • The individual is able to tackle questions quickly and organize work according to the fast-paced nature of the surroundings in the business sector.
  • A self-starter who can deal with several tasks at the same time, can work under time pressure and yet remain focused on the objectives.
  • Will always deliver top quality in all aspects of daily duties and processes.
  • Great teamwork and negotiation skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel); knowledge of GRS regulations and investment experience is a plus but not a must.
  • An applicant with Government of Canada Security clearance as a prerequisite for obtaining Reliability Status.
