Job Description

  • The candidate must plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • The candidate must oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must hold a valid Class 3/3F/DF licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles).
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must have patience.

Experience and specialization

Surface preparation methods

  • The candidate must have experience and specialization in surface preparation methods, including water blasting.

Type of trucking and equipment

  • The candidate must have experience operating dump trucks.

Communication systems experience

  • The candidate must have experience operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation and travel experience in local routes.
  • The candidate must have short-haul travel experience.

Security and safety

  • The candidate must undergo a driver’s valid license check and a driving record check (abstract).
