Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for organizing and prioritizing the daily workload for assigned products.
  • The candidate will be responsible for developing complete patterns and cutters to achieve design aesthetic, fit, and construction standards.
  • The candidate will be responsible for identifying, adjusting, and correcting fit issues through pattern corrections.
  • The candidate will be responsible for communicating and advising technical teams and cross-functional partners on pattern construction.
  • The candidate will be responsible for collaborating cross-functionally to maintain fit and construction standards for brand consistency.
  • The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with factories to ensure accurate use of pattern development.
  • The candidate must be able to cut and sew muslins for live fitting and form fitting.
  • The candidate must have the ability to conduct fittings on live models.
  • The candidate will be responsible for participating in fittings to support Technical Developers in maintaining consistent fit.
  • The candidate must have strong analytical thinking and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate will be responsible for mentoring Pattern Engineers and Technical Development teams as required.

Job Requirements

  • A Patternmaking degree is required for this role.
  • The candidate must have 5–8 years of industry experience in pattern making.
  • Applicants with experience in performance or close-to-body product development through production will be considered an asset.
  • The candidate must have an understanding of fit, balance, garment construction, and fabric reaction.
  • The candidate must have strong technical knowledge of performance products and fit, including materials, fabric, construction, and body movement.
  • The candidate must be a strong team player and capable of working cross-functionally.
  • The candidate must understand product creation calendar timelines and be able to work to deadlines.
  • The candidate must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Adobe Illustrator, PLM software, and Gerber Pattern Making tools.
  • Experience with 3D software such as CLO or Browzwear is considered an asset.
  • The role considers experience with the plus size market as a plus.
  • The candidate must have experience traveling to and working with manufacturers across Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
  • The candidate must be driven by the technical aspects of the product creation process.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, initiative, organization, and communication skills.
  • The candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively.
  • The candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of fabric, construction, draping, graphic, and dye techniques.
  • The candidate must be skilled in technical communication with vendors using pattern diagrams and fit photos.
  • The candidate must have expert knowledge of pattern grading.
  • The candidate must understand the end-to-end product lifecycle.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and collaborative mindset.
  • The candidate will be required to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
  • The candidate must have excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • The candidate must demonstrate curiosity for change and learning, with the ability to manage ambiguity.
  • The candidate will be required to participate in fit sessions for all products as needed.

Work conditions

  • This role is classified as In-Person under the SSC Workplace Policy, where in-person collaboration and office-based work are necessary for the role, and work is mainly performed onsite, 4–5 days per week depending on role requirements.
