Job Description

  • The candidate must respond to customer complaints or concerns.
  • The candidate must have mountain driving experience.
  • The candidate must maintain professionalism in customer service.
  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent experience.
  • A candidate with experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must have an AZ class license, Air Brakes Endorsement Certification, Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Certification, and a Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, trans-border documentation, and trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment

  • The candidate must have experience operating dry bulk, flatbed, tractor-trailer B train, logging (highway), and tractor-trailer trucks.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at the international, national, provincial/territorial, regional, and local levels.
  • The candidate must have both long-haul and short-haul travel experience.

Additional information

Security and safety

  • The candidate must undergo a driver’s license validity check and a driving record check (abstract).

Transportation/travel information

  • The candidate must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s license.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel across borders.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel for extended periods of time.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate should have an eye for detail.
  • The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
  • The candidate should be willing to work for long hours in sitting positions.
