CMT TRUCKING INC., situated in Redonda & Gunn Rd, Winnipeg, MB R2C 2Z2, is seeking applications for the job position of Truck driver who is enthusiastic and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. The selected applicant must join and assume their responsibilities as soon as possible. The employer is offering a permanent or full-time position. The shift timings for this position include the Day, On-call and Flexible hours.

Job Description

  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.
  • The candidate must be able to perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.
  • The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring cargo safety and security.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have a Class 1/1F/A licence (semi-trailer trucks) or a Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in various locations to support employees stationed at different worksites.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about the bill of lading and driver logbooks.

Communication systems experience

  • The candidate must have experience operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, as well as trip recorders (on-board computers).

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at the local and regional levels.
  • The candidate must have short-haul travel experience.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must specialize in truck driving.

Security and safety

  • The candidate must undergo a driver’s validity licence check and a driving record check (abstract).

Transportation/travel information

  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.

  • The candidate should have an eye for detail.
  • The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
  • The candidate should be willing to work for long hours in sitting positions.
