Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Store Supervisors, Full-Time, and Part-Time employees in delivering service standards and behaviors for exceptional customer service, while ensuring service excellence and maintaining retail environment and merchandising standards that meet and surpass requirements to drive the business and promote LDB BC Liquor Stores through unparalleled customer service.
  • The candidate will be responsible for store financial performance, meeting or exceeding sales targets, controlling expenditures, and leading and motivating team members to achieve operational goals and maximize sales revenue.
  • The candidate will be responsible for driving business performance by actively monitoring and prioritizing KPIs, developing the performance of the Assistant Manager, Supervisor, and Front-Line Staff, and ensuring execution of BCL service standards.
  • The candidate will be responsible for inventory management, ensuring all products are merchandised and assigned storage locations, counted on a quarterly basis, and that inventory management and monitoring practices meet standards to minimize shrink and maximize profits.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training, and development of all team members, including the store supervisor.
  • The candidate will be responsible for implementing visual presentation plans and standards through daily visual merchandising walk-throughs with key staff members, ensuring store planograms are executed as directed, and directing brand-appropriate strategic merchandising to maximize sales in the BC Liquor Store.
  • The candidate will be responsible for controlling staffing costs by ensuring staffing levels reflect peak hours required to maintain a high level of customer service.
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading labour relations matters in the store, monitoring occupational health and safety of staff, and managing absenteeism.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting social responsibility in the consumption of beverage alcohol by preventing the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors through strict enforcement of the โ€œ2-IDโ€ policy at all times and deterring sales to intoxicated individuals.
  • The candidate will be responsible for conducting formal My Peak Performance evaluations and providing ongoing development and performance feedback to increase confidence and capability, while inspiring a customer-centric culture by recognizing and rewarding teams and creating a positive work environment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring all corporate initiatives and standards are executed.
  • The candidate will be responsible for directly supervising up to 4 regular and auxiliary employees.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must possess a secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of one (1) year of recent experience, including six (6) months of supervisory experience in a retail environment.
  • The candidate with experience in driving and achieving sales targets will be considered an asset.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in an environment generating annual sales exceeding $1 million.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in visual presentation standards and KPI monitoring.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who hold a diploma or certificate in business or retail management or have completed courses in leadership or supervision.
  • The candidate must successfully complete the Serving It Rightโ„ข certificate.

Work conditions

  • The candidate will be required to safely diffuse potentially dangerous or violent situations.
  • The candidate must be available to work all shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, as well as outside of established hours of operation when required.
  • The candidate will be required to perform a leadership role that includes administrative and clerical duties, operating a cash register, lifting liquor cases up to 50 lbs. to varying heights, and operating a variety of mechanical and hand-operated equipment.
