Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for shaping and influencing the API Platform product roadmap, including APIM standards, capabilities, integrations, and platform features such as self-service, monitoring, cost management, resiliency, and security.
- The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to define API requirements, integrations, and standards.
- The candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing API security policies, including OAuth, JWT, rate limiting, IP filtering, and other security protocols.
- The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing custom APIs to meet specific business needs, including advanced authentication, logging, rate limiting, and custom transformations.
- The candidate will be responsible for implementing custom logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing capabilities through plugins to capture meaningful metrics, errors, and system health information.
- The candidate will be responsible for using tracing tools such as OpenTelemetry and Jaeger to provide end-to-end visibility of API calls and identify performance bottlenecks.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing documentation, training, and support to internal teams and stakeholders on API management practices.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- The candidate will be responsible for clearly explaining the business value of APIM platform services and the considerations required for successful API development initiatives.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying and anticipating new tools and features that can support the company’s strategic needs.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should have a completed Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Software Architecture, or equivalent experience.
- Candidates with substantial and relevant industry experience are also eligible for this role.
- The candidate must have 3–5 years of experience in APIM management tools such as Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, or equivalent technologies.
- The candidate must have deep expertise in managing and optimizing API gateways, including implementation, configuration, and maintenance of API management solutions.
- The candidate must ensure performance, reliability, and scalability of API gateways while driving system integration and troubleshooting issues.
- The candidate must have experience with Kubernetes and AWS infrastructure components supporting APIs in AWS.
- The candidate must have experience with observability tools such as the OTEL framework, along with strong skills in Datadog and Splunk for metrics and logs.
- The candidate must have expert-level experience in DevSecOps tools and processes, including Git, JFrog Artifactory, Jenkins, and HashiCorp products.
- The candidate must have a desire to mentor junior team members and support their skill development.
- The candidate must be able to work effectively in an agile development environment and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
