Recreation Instructor – General Fitness

City of Coquitlam is located at Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of Recreation Instructor – General Fitness. We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The chosen applicant will be required to join and begin their duties as soon as possible. This position is offered as casual, non-union employment.

Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and safe fitness programs within the Community Services department.
  • The candidate will lead group fitness classes in areas such as general fitness, cycle, barre, yoga, pilates, Zumba, Get Up & Go, and older adult fitness programs.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have current Emergency First Aid and CPR ‘A’ certification.
  • The candidate must be at least 16 years of age.
  • The candidate must hold a current BCRPA Fitness Certification as a group fitness leader or an equivalent certification accepted by the City of Coquitlam.
  • The candidate must hold CPR and First Aid certification from recognized providers such as St John’s Ambulance, Canadian Red Cross, Lifesaving Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Canadian Ski Patrol.
  • The candidate must be available to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • The candidate with pre/post-natal fitness training will be preferred.
  • The candidate with prior instructing or coaching experience will be considered an asset.
