Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for conducting independent biopsychosocial assessments for young people involved in the justice system.
  • The candidate will be responsible for working with multidisciplinary clinicians to provide specialized counselling and therapy services.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the supervision of practicum students.
  • The candidate will be responsible for collaborating on research projects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of effective assessment and treatment services for young people involved in the justice system.

Job Requirements

  • The successful candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or a comparable Master’s-level graduate degree in a similar subject.
  • The candidate must seek and obtain clinical registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW) within 6 months of completing the required 3,000 hours of supervised clinical practice.
  • The candidate must provide confirmation that a degree obtained outside of Canada has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES) and submit a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of one year of full-time equivalent experience working with children, youth, and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community-based mental health services.
  • The candidate must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with no restrictions or an equivalent licence from another Canadian province.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with two years or more of relevant clinical experience working in an adolescent mental health environment and providing a wide range of outpatient-oriented assessment and treatment services.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with recent experience working in a forensic setting or with a forensic population.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience working in a psychiatric or mental health unit.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) and possess the required combination of education and experience.
  • The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
