Job Description

  • The candidate must provide bedside and personal care.
  • The candidate must administer medications.
  • The candidate must assist clients with water-related tasks (e.g., pool).
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting clients with bathing and other personal hygiene activities.
  • The candidate must assist with regular exercise, such as walking.
  • The candidate must change non-sterile dressings.
  • The candidate must feed or assist in feeding the patient.
  • The candidate must launder clothing and household linens.
  • The candidate must be able to mend clothing and linens.
  • The candidate must perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • The candidate must provide companionship.
  • The candidate must provide personal care.
  • The candidate must go shopping for food and household supplies.
  • The candidate must prepare and serve healthy meals.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have a CPR Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Health Care Aide Certificate and Personal Support Worker Certificate.
  • The candidate must be able to handle weights ranging from 45 to 60 kg (100–132 lbs) and from 61 to 80 kg (133–176 lbs).
  • The candidate should be client-focused.
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting independently and taking initiative.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate must have patience.
  • The candidate must be honest.
