Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for acting as a trusted advisor to leaders by building strong relationships and applying HR expertise to support business priorities.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day coaching and guidance to managers to strengthen leadership capability, team performance, and employee experience.
- The candidate will be responsible for delivering proactive support across HR areas including labour relations, performance development, succession planning, and disability management.
- The candidate will be responsible for working with business units to support people priorities by partnering and delivering sustainable solutions as business needs grow and evolve.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting, contributing to the development of, and leveraging programs and initiatives in partnership with People and Culture Centres of Excellence (COEs).
- The candidate will be required to promote the consistent implementation of HR policies and best practices to support fairness, compliance, and organizational alignment.
- The candidate will be responsible for building collaboration across teams by working closely with business leaders to integrate programs and optimize people solutions.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting enterprise-wide initiatives and projects, organizational change, and continuous improvement activities.
- The candidate will be responsible for guiding managers on best practices, behaviours, supports, and engagement strategies to create a positive workplace culture.
- The candidate will be required to consistently demonstrate the organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees, including being responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.
Job Requirements
- The candidate will be required to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment while fostering strong relationships throughout the organization.
- The candidate must develop an in-depth understanding of clients’ business needs and proactively apply people and culture leadership and practices in the delivery of HR programs and initiatives.
- The candidate will be required to apply effective problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
- The candidate must use strong facilitation skills to coach and guide managers in resolving workplace issues and creating a positive and respectful employee experience.
- The candidate must provide expert guidance in performance development, workforce planning, and change management.
- The candidate must be proficient with computer systems, HRIS and/or PeopleSoft, and use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to develop, analyze, and present information to clients and management.
- The candidate will be required to hold a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field of study.
- The candidate will be required to have at least five years of experience working in an HR generalist role.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a unionized environment.
- A strong labour relations background is preferred for this position.
- The candidate will be required to have operational experience relevant to the position.
- A CPHR designation, or progress toward obtaining the designation, will be considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- The candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
