Job Description

  • Working supervisor role leading maintenance operations in Jasper National Park.
  • Oversees a team of 10+ staff maintaining visitor facilities and infrastructure.
  • Participates in field work when operationally required.
  • Position based in Jasper, Alberta with a year round outdoor work environment.
  • Supports safe, efficient operations aligned with Parks Canada standards.
  • The process may create a pool for similar future positions.

Responsibilities

  • You have to lead and look after a maintenance crew of 10 or more employees.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor daily operational work activities.
  • Ensure maintenance work meets safety and Parks Canada standards.
  • Workers need to complete their fieldwork tasks whenever their work requires them to do so.
  • The supervisor provides training and guidance to staff members while delivering evaluations of their work performance.
  • The team needs to work together with both trades and technical services and operations staff members.
  • The team maintains all campsites and roadways and bridge structures and public areas with top-notch quality standards.

Requirements

  • Reliability Status security clearance required
  • Can wear Parks Canada uniform and PPE
  • Can work or travel in varied terrain and weather
  • Must complete mandatory training like OHS, TDG, WHMIS, etc.
  • Willing to undergo medical evaluations
  • Willing to gain water or wastewater system experience
  • Able to work independently in remote location
  • Secondary school completion or equivalent combination
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required
  • 36–60 months acceptable related experience
  • Can work in facility, campground, road, or bridge maintenance
  • Can work in grounds maintenance or cleaning
  • The person can operate light machinery which includes excavators and skid steers and tractors.
  • The candidate has experience in managing a team that includes more than 10 employees.
  • The candidate possesses basic skills in carpentry work which he uses for construction projects.
  • The user has experience with Microsoft
  • Outlook and Word and Excel and OneNote and PDF software.
  • The person knows how to implement safety procedures and safety precautions.
  • The individual possesses knowledge about the core mission of Parks Canada.
  • The individual possesses knowledge about the procedures for maintaining and building and operating industrial equipment.
  • The individual has the ability to guide and teach and inspire team members.
  • The individual has the ability to create work schedules while handling unexpected changes in work requirements.
  • The individual has the ability to determine workplace dangers and implement measures to maintain safe work conditions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and report
