CARRY FREIGHT LIMITED, located in Calgary, AB T3J 5H3. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of long-haul truck driver. Job Description

  • The candidate must respond to customer complaints or concerns.
  • The candidate must have mountain driving experience.
  • The candidate must drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  • The candidate must load and unload goods.
  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.
  • The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
  • The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring cargo safety and security.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have an Air Brakes Endorsement Certification and a Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must be hardworking.

Work setting

  • The candidate must work in various locations to support employees stationed at different worksites.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about driver logbooks.

Type of trucking and equipment

  • The candidate must have experience operating refrigerated trucks and tractor-trailers.

Communication systems experience

  • The candidate will be responsible for operating the GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigational equipment.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at international, local, national, provincial/territorial, and regional levels.
  • The candidate must have long-haul travel experience.

Security and safety

  • The candidate should be subjected to a thorough basic security clearance, driver’s licence validity check, driving record check (abstract), and drug test.

  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
