Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting Crown Counsel through the preparation and management of criminal case files for court proceedings.
  • The candidate will be responsible for reviewing and organizing evidence, ensuring compliance with disclosure requirements, and coordinating with stakeholders, including police, victims, and witnesses.
  • The candidate will contribute to maintaining fair legal processes and upholding justice in a high-profile, fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have completed secondary school or possess an equivalent qualification.
  • The candidate must have successfully completed a recognized Legal Assistant certificate or possess an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • The candidate must have office experience working in a confidential capacity.
  • The candidate must have experience managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and making travel arrangements.
  • The candidate must have experience typing, drafting, formatting, proofreading, and editing a variety of documents.
  • The candidate must have experience developing and maintaining administrative systems, procedures, and standards.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have successfully completed a Legal Assistant or Paralegal certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with at least 1 year of administrative experience.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with at least 1 year of recent experience, acquired within the last 3 years, working as a Legal Assistant in a legal office.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with recent experience, acquired within the last 3 years, working for the BC Prosecution Service.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in the criminal justice sector.
  • The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
