Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and efficient advice on grievance management, managing underperforming employees, collective agreement interpretation and application, terms and conditions of employment, LDB and PSA policies and procedures, and relevant labour, employment, and human rights legislation.
- The candidate will be responsible for facilitating and conducting workplace investigations in accordance with the LDB Investigation Protocol involving employee misconduct, collective agreement breaches, and policy violations.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing advice and assistance to LDB Management on discipline, dispute resolution, grievances, and conflict management.
- The candidate will be responsible for preparing investigation files in accordance with the LDB Investigation Protocol to support grievance responses and arbitration proceedings.
- The candidate will be responsible for researching and preparing Step 2 grievances on behalf of LDB Management.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing information and documentation from LDB Management to PSA Senior Labour Relations Specialists for grievance handling and matters proceeding to arbitration or other dispute resolution processes.
- The candidate will be responsible for researching and drafting disciplinary letters and related correspondence for LDB Management in accordance with the principles of progressive discipline.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting LDB Management with attendance management issues in collaboration with the Occupational Health & Safety team.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development, recommendation, and implementation of policies and procedures designed to prevent, resolve, and anticipate issues in support of LDB objectives.
- The candidate may be required to research and compile information in preparation for and during the collective bargaining process.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting and supporting Senior Managers, Employee Relations, the Director, Employee Relations, and members of the Employee Relations and Occupational Health & Safety team in developing, implementing, and delivering Labour Relations training programs.
- The candidate will be responsible for facilitating the Labour Relations course in collaboration with other members of the Employee Relations team.
- The candidate will collaborate with Senior Public Service Agency Labour Relations Specialists, LDB Management, Occupational Health & Safety team members, External Legal Counsel, and BCGEU representatives.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must possess a degree, diploma, certificate, or formal coursework towards a degree, diploma, or certification in Human Resources or a related discipline such as labour relations, employee relations, administrative law, business administration, or investigations, along with a minimum of one (1) year of recent related experience as a Labour Relations practitioner with experience in labour relations best practices.
- The candidate will be required to have a Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate along with at least three (3) years of recent related experience as a Labour Relations practitioner and experience applying labour relations best practices.
- The candidate must have experience leading and directing workplace investigations involving employee misconduct, breaches of the collective agreement, and policy breaches.
- The candidate must have experience applying due diligence regarding legal implications and applying various Acts and policies to labour relations situations, including employment and human rights law.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience in third party interventions, including conducting reviews and/or appeals.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience providing advice and assistance to management on discipline, dispute resolution, grievances, and conflict management.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience developing and delivering presentations.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience researching and compiling information in preparation for and during the collective bargaining process.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience preparing investigation files, disciplinary letters, and other related correspondence.
