Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
The candidate will be responsible for storytelling.
The candidate must synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate this information to their parents.
The candidate must assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
The candidate will be responsible for assisting early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
The candidate must encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.

Job Requirements

The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
The candidate must be able to supervise 1 to 2 people.
The candidate must have an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, a First Aid Certificate, and a CPR Certificate.

Work site environment

The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
The work site is non-smoking and air-conditioned.

Work setting

The candidate should work in a child care center, day nursery, or crèches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
The candidate should work in a daycare center or nursery school; daycare centers also offer educational and recreational activities to help develop cognitive skills in children.

Experience and specialization

Experience with special needs children

The candidate must have experience working with children with special needs, including those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD).
