Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for constructing, preparing, laying out, and installing planting areas and irrigation systems, as well as testing, maintaining, repairing, and winterizing irrigation systems.
- The candidate will be responsible for planting flowers and trees, mowing turf, watering, weeding, fertilizing, applying pesticides and herbicides, pruning trees and shrubs, and performing related horticultural tasks.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and lubrication of equipment.
- The candidate will be responsible for collecting and disposing of debris and litter and may be required to handle hazardous waste such as used needles.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing snow and ice control duties.
- The candidate will be responsible for receiving and responding to service requests from staff, contractors, and the public.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining written records such as activity and vandalism reports.
- The candidate may provide crew-leader direction and instruction to less experienced staff and students on job requirements, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
- The candidate must be capable of performing manual labour.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold a Horticulture Diploma.
- The candidate must hold a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- The candidate must demonstrate flexibility in work assignments and changing priorities.
- The candidate must have people management skills and experience.
- The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to service excellence.
