Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Ministry Representative, Field Services, with the delivery of field services projects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting surveys, inspections, measurements, quality management tasks, and administrative duties.
  • The candidate will assist with coordinating and managing construction activities, including directing day labour on simple projects.
  • The candidate will establish and maintain positive working relationships with Ministry staff, contractors, and partners to support project coordination and quality results.
  • The candidate will collaborate with government agencies, regulators, utility providers, and the public to address concerns, ensure compliance, and coordinate project activities.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have a Civil Technology diploma and at least 2 (two) years of related experience in Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The candidate must have a related engineering degree and at least 1 (one) year of related experience.
  • The candidate must have Grade 12 education, additional construction-related courses in areas such as survey, design, materials, hydraulics, blasting, asphalt, or related fields, and a minimum of 5 (five) years of directly related experience in highway construction or paving.
  • The candidate must have experience working on highway construction or paving projects.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with direct experience in highway construction, contract negotiation, and applying and interpreting Ministry of Transportation and Transit specifications and contract documents.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in developing and managing contracts.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in developing and implementing Quality Management systems.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience resolving contentious issues involving contractors, consultants, partners, and outside agencies.
  • The candidate must complete a Safety Supervision Certificate.
  • The candidate must hold a valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle License and provide a driver’s abstract.
  • The candidate should be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.

  • The candidate must be willing and able to work outdoors during periods of inclement weather and on rough terrain.
