Job Description

  • The candidate must operate heavy equipment and trucks with various attachments, including tandem axle dump trucks, crane trucks with rigging, roadside mowers, truck-mounted plows for snow and ice control, street sweepers, asphalt and oil distributor trucks, and other construction and maintenance equipment.
  • The candidate may supervise and provide crew-leader direction to co-workers and contractors on specific job requirements on a project basis.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing routine inspection, maintenance, lubrication, and fueling of equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for using hand tools for routine maintenance and attachment changes.
  • The candidate will be responsible for referring equipment for mechanical repair and servicing as required.
  • The candidate will be responsible for responding to routine public inquiries and maintaining records of work performed.
  • The candidate will be required to perform manual labour as needed.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have completed high school graduation or an equivalent qualification.
  • The candidate must hold a valid BC Driver’s License (Class 3) with a current Air Brake Endorsement.
  • The candidate will be required to hold City of Kelowna certification for operation of designated equipment and vehicles.
  • The candidate must be flexible to adapt to changing work conditions and emergency situations.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong people management skills.
  • The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to service excellence in all duties and interactions.
