Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
The candidate will be responsible for storytelling.
The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
The candidate must encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
The candidate must prepare snacks and set up rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
The candidate will be expected to discuss the children’s progress and problems at staff meetings.
The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of the children.
The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s health, safety, and well-being.

Job Requirements

The candidate should be fluent in English language.
The candidate must have a College/CEGEP diploma.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
The candidate must have Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR Certification, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, and First Aid Certificate.
The candidate must be punctual.
The candidate should be dependable.
The candidate should be flexible.
The candidate should be reliable.
The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.

Work site environment

The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
The work site environment is air-conditioned.

Work setting

The candidate should work in a child care centre, day nursery, or crèches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
The candidate must work in kindergarten.
The candidate should work in before and after-school programs to provide a safe, fun environment for all students to participate in academic, leisure, and recreational activities outside the traditional school day.
The candidate should work in a daycare centre or nursery school; daycare centres also offer educational and recreational activities to help develop cognitive skills in children.

The candidate should be prepared to perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
The candidate must be willing to work long hours in sitting, standing, and walking positions.
