Job Description

• The candidate must be an outerwear expert, with strong knowledge of materials, constructions, styling, and end-use needs across rain, snow, and performance technical apparel.
• The candidate must have a keen fashion sense beyond technical outerwear and outdoor apparel, keeping up with relevant trends and brands from streetwear to runway, and the ability to translate those trends into the category.
• The candidate must combine active product use experience, market knowledge, trend research, and collaboration with lululemon designers to create functional, innovative, quality designs.
• The candidate must have a clear reference point in understanding product storytelling, design, and construction.
• The candidate must understand body forms and be an expert in conceptualizing, creating, and conveying ideas and technical information throughout the design process.
• The candidate must partner with ambassadors and athletes to continually elevate and innovate the product.
• The candidate must research and stay informed of relevant global cultural and aesthetic trends, and global guest preferences.
• The candidate must analyze how trends and colours emerge and influence the product category.
• The candidate must collate research, identify patterns, and draw conclusions.
• The candidate will be responsible for editing research through the lens of the brand strategy.
• The candidate will be responsible for creating black and white sketches in accordance with research, brand identity, and in fulfillment of the brief intent and IMU targets.
• The candidate will be responsible for presenting sketches to Design leaders.
• The candidate will be responsible for selecting fabrics and trims from the Raw Material library for their styles.
• The candidate will be responsible for applying colour and approved graphics to the assortment, including new, core, and carryover styles, while considering feasibility, known limitations, and commercial viability.
• The candidate will be responsible for completing technical sketches detailing materials, construction techniques, trims, and fit.
• The candidate will be responsible for handing over tech sketches to PD/TD and collaborating with technical developers to ensure accuracy and commercial feasibility.
• The candidate will be responsible for presenting coloured-up sketches to cross-functional partners for sketch review sign off.
• The candidate will be responsible for clearly communicating alignment to the brief, sources of inspiration, and references for their design.
• The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the colour assortment based on feedback and change requests from Design leadership and cross-functional partners.
• The candidate will be responsible for fitting styles to ensure design intent is accurately captured and IMU targets are met.
• The candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement and making recommendations for necessary adjustments.
• The candidate will be responsible for presenting physical prototypes of on-body garments to cross-functional partners to prepare for commercial sign-off at proto review.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• The candidate must hold a BA, BFA, or BS in Design, or an equivalent qualification.
• The candidate must have high proficiency in Adobe Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• The candidate must have an understanding of and interest in 3D and Generative AI design tools.
• The candidate must possess strong design skills to creatively conceptualize, design, and construct garments that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and commercially viable, using artistic vision, technical expertise, and industry knowledge.
• The candidate must clearly articulate design ideas and concepts to the team, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners, both verbally and visually, while incorporating feedback.
• The candidate must demonstrate aesthetic intelligence, with the ability to understand and appreciate the nuances of design to create visually pleasing work that resonates with the target audience and aligns with the brand’s aesthetic, vision, and guests.
• The candidate must demonstrate innovative thinking by generating new ideas, processes, and solutions that push the boundaries of product creation.
• The candidate must demonstrate global market understanding and brand alignment by translating global fashion trends and consumer behaviours into designs that enhance the brand’s identity and reputation.
• The candidate must acknowledge the presence of choice in every moment and take personal responsibility for their actions and decisions.
