Job Description

  • The candidate will be in charge of calving.
  • The candidate will be in charge of feeding inventory.
  • The candidate will be in charge of handling animals.
  • The candidate will be in charge of monitoring animal health.
  • The candidate will be expected to plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
  • The candidate will be in charge of shearing with a knife.
  • The candidate will be in charge of soil fertility programmes.
  • The candidate will be in charge of weaning.
  • The candidate will be required to fertilise and spray crops.
  • The candidate will be in charge of harvesting crops.
  • The candidate will be expected to feed and care for animals.
  • The candidate must operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
  • The candidate will have to milk cows.
  • The candidate must clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens.
  • The candidate must detect disease and health issues in crops, livestock, and poultry.
  • The candidate will be required to write basic progress reports on a daily basis.
  • The candidate will be required to install and monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • Training will be provided to the selected candidate.
  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.

  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work Site Environment

  • Farm operations include corn farming, hay farming, livestock combination farming, other grain farming, other miscellaneous animal farming, other miscellaneous crop farming, and soybean farming.
  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp, dusty, hot, and cold/refrigerated conditions.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.

Work Setting

  • The candidate must be willing to work in a rural area.
  • The candidate will be required to work in the dairy industry.

Experience and Specialization

Equipment and Machinery Experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with a Farm truck, Fertilizer applicator, Forage equipment, Haying equipment, Loader, Manure spreader, Planting equipment, Seed drill, Sprayer or duster, Tillage equipment, and Tractor.

Automated systems experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with an Automated irrigation system, Bulk grain or feed handling – automated, Milking system (automated), Manure handling and storage, Feeding and watering system and Storage and silage system.
