Job Description

• The candidate must be able to operate a cash register accurately and efficiently.
• The candidate must process money, cheques, and credit/debit card payments.
• The candidate must scan items.
• The candidate must compute the total payment for the goods or services required.
• The candidate must accept payment for goods or services.
• The candidate will be responsible for calculating daily/shift payments received and reconciling them with total sales.
• The candidate will be responsible for stocking shelves and maintaining the cleanliness of the counter area.
• The candidate must greet customers.
• The candidate must wrap or place merchandise in bags.
• The candidate must weigh produce and bulk foods.
• The candidate must provide excellent customer service.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate should be accurate.
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate should be a good team player.

Student status

• The candidate must remain enrolled as a full-time student.

Work setting

• The candidate must work in a wholesale establishment or store.
• The candidate should work in a supermarket/grocery store self-service shop offering a wide variety of food, beverages, and household products, organized into sections.
• The candidate should work in a retail business, purchasing goods from manufacturers or wholesalers, and selling these goods to consumers in small quantities.

Experience and specialization

Computer and technology knowledge

• The candidate must be knowledgeable about Electronic cash registers and Interac machines.

• The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy environment.
• The candidate should be willing to work under pressure.
• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must be willing to work in a standing position for extended periods.
