Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to perform skilled carpentry work on historic and contemporary assets.
- They’re also appointed to take part in foundation upgrades, roof upgrades vessel structural repairs, inspecting facilities for defects and working with a multidisciplinary team to repair and maintain our heritage structures.
- They’re also appointed to lead different projects in collaboration with the Carpentry Supervisor.
Job requirement
- Candidates must attain successful completion of a post-secondary program relevant to the position.
- They must acquire a dedicated journeyman carpenter certificate to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must attain experience in the safe and appropriate use and maintenance of power, hand tools and construction equipment used in the building trades.
- Candidates must attain experience in the inspection, repair and maintenance of heritage structures.
- They must attain dedicated knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in the building trades.
- Candidates must attain the ability to use, and inspect to be eligible for this post.
- They must be able to maintain a wide range of shop tools associated with carpentry.
- Candidates must be able to review and interpret conceptual buildings or construction plans
- They must possess and maintain a valid class 5 Drivers’ License and complete safety courses and training.
Work setting
- They must attain dedicated knowledge of building maintenance and construction techniques in historic and contemporary assets to be eligible for this post.
