Building Inspector Specialist
Recruitment of building inspector specialists has been released by the City of Toronto; they’re inviting applicants to share their applications. Job Description
- Candidates who apply for this post are required to inspect and verify the installation and testing of fire alarm and suppression systems.
- They’re also accountable for investigating complaints regarding contraventions of statutes, regulations and By-Laws working at this post.
- People accountable at this post to inspect fire-damaged or unsafe buildings to determine the extent of damage and the need for repairs or replacement.
- They’re accountable at this post to review permit plans for compliance with the Ontario Building Code and referenced standards working at this post.
- Candidates interested in this post are required to approve alternate design and equipment substitutions that vary from approved plans.
- They’re also accountable for providing instruction to contractors, architects, engineers and the public on the regulations and required construction practices working at this post.
Job requirement
- Candidates must have completed a post-secondary degree or diploma in a discipline such as architectural technology, building science or civil engineering technology to be eligible for this post.
- They must possess and be able to maintain a valid Ontario Class “G2” or “G” Driver’s Licence and access to a properly insured vehicle to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must possess or be able to obtain the following Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing Ontario Building Code qualification requirements for an inspector to be considered as an asset for this post.
Work setting
- Candidates must acquire knowledge of the responsibilities and the jurisdiction of other Departments, Provincial and Toronto Agencies.
- They must have dedicated knowledge of the construction of all types of buildings to be eligible for this post.
