Job Requirements

  • The candidate must complete the Officer Induction Training Program, which consists of five (5) weeks of facilitated distance learning and thirteen (13) weeks of in-person training at the CBSA College in Rigaud, Quebec.
  • The candidate will be provided with accommodations while attending in-residence training at the CBSA College (private room and individual bathroom, and meals).
  • During the training programme, the candidate will receive a weekly tax-free allowance of $125.
  • Recruits graduate from the CBSA College in the FB-02 group and level as CBSA officer trainees, earning $69,423 to $77,302 per year (salary currently under review).
  • Following graduation, CBSA officer trainees will be assigned to a point of entry where they will participate in the on-the-job training phase.
  • Successful officer trainees begin their careers as BSOs with the CBSA after completing a minimum of twelve (12) months of on-the-job training as a CBSA officer trainee (FB-02).
  • CBSA officer trainees are promoted to BSO positions at the FB-03 group and level upon successful completion of the development programme at an assigned point of entry, and their annual salary ranges from $75,100 to $89,068. (salary currently under review).

Ideal candidates must

  • The candidate must be prepared to pass physical, psychological, and medical evaluations.
  • The candidate must obtain and maintain enhanced secret security clearance.
  • The candidate must be willing to accept a posting anywhere in Canada, including small, remote, and rural entry points.
  • The candidate must have and keep a valid, unrestricted driver’s licence that allows the holder to drive a motor vehicle in Canada.
  • The candidate must be willing to carry and use CBSA-issued defensive equipment, such as a duty firearm and other defensive equipment like oleoresin capsicum spray and a baton.
  • The candidate must be willing to complete both online and in-person training.
