Banquet Server

The Banquet Server is a part-time continuing role at the National Arts Centre (NAC) in Ottawa. The position requires setup and guest service and event execution assistance during on-site and off-site events. Job Description

  • A part time continuing Banquet Server role within the Hospitality team.
  • This position helps set up banquet events through service, and other event activities.
  • Work hours may be in mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends based on event schedules.
  • Contributes to guest experience at on site and sometimes off premises events.
  • The employee needs to work with event teams and then share their work results to the Banquet Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and arrange furniture, stages, portable bars, risers and dance floors for upcoming events.
  • Deliver food and drinks to guests while showing good service.
  • The person needs to move around event areas, climb stairs and carry objects.
  • Work as a bartender when required based on guest needs.
  • Break down event setups and return equipment to designated areas.
  • Follow directions from supervisors and support smooth event execution.
  • Provide positive guest interactions at all times during events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 6 months of banquet or serving experience
  • Smart Serve certification (required during hiring process)
  • Bartending experience considered an asset
  • Good customer service and talking skills
  • Can complete physical tasks that require them to lift weights.
  • Can maintain standing and walking activities.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and in a team setting
  • Can follow directions and build positive working relationships
  • Can interact in English and French
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Open to persons residing in Canada and Canadian citizens abroad (preference to Canadian citizens)
  • Available for possible in person interview
